Program Overview
The Nutrition Program offers a variety of services including Senior Dining, Home Delivered Meals, Liquid Nutrition Supplements and My Meal, My Way. The purpose of the program is to promote health and independence, balanced nutrition and social interaction while reducing hunger and food insecurity. Nutrition programs promote nutritional well-being, helping seniors to stay happy, healthy and independent. Programs are funded under the Federal Older Americans Act and are designed to provide meals and supportive services to people 60 years of age and over, and their spouses. No eligible participant will be denied a meal based on ability to contribute toward the cost of the meal.
Senior Dining
More than just a meal...Senior Dining not only offers a tasty hot meal at lunchtime, but it also gives older adults an opportunity to socialize with others, make new friends, change of scenery and if desired, volunteer. Dining with others can improve appetite and overall nutritional health. Meals are available various days during the week. All adults age 60 and over are welcome to eat on a donation basis (ask at the Senior Dining Site for the suggested donation). My Meal, My Way
Traditional senior dining sites at community locations serve a wonderful purpose but the ADRC also offers a different approach that addresses the nutritional and social needs of Portage County’s senior residents. This creative program provides new options for seniors to dine in a comfortable setting at a local restaurant with the people they choose. Location, serving day and time listed below.
All adults age 60 and over are welcome to eat on a donation basis (ask at the restaurant for the suggested donation).

Home-Delivered Meals
Home-delivered meals are available to the homebound elderly throughout Portage County. These meals are provided by either Meals on Wheels of Stevens Point for those living in the city, or the ADRC Nutrition Program for residents of Plover and rural Portage County. Home delivered meals are available short-term and long-term to help individuals stay independent and in their own home. Meals are delivered right to your door by caring and dedicated volunteers. The home delivered meals program also provides a daily check on individuals. If there is a concern when delivering meals, a designated person is contacted for follow-up.
Liquid Nutrition Supplements
Nutritional supplements are available to individuals who may have a poor appetite, are recovering from surgery, need to gain weight or simply are not able to eat a diet adequate in nutrition. Nutritional supplements, like Ensure®, are available through the ADRC Nutrition Program.
Transportation/Rides to Nutrition Program Sites
Ongoing reservations are made directly with the Transportation Program by calling 715-341-4490.
What happens if there is a storm?
Meals and transportation are not available when roads conditions are hazardous or when schools are closed due to bad weather. We encourage participants to keep a shelf-stable food supply on hand.
The ADRC Nutrition Program enables all seniors to enjoy healthy, nutritious foods, stay connected and be active in the community. Call 715-346-1401 or toll free, 1-866-920-2525 to learn more.
